When organizational change occurs, individuals may have different perspectives, levels of preparedness, and responses, even in the same situation. This is one of the key challenges of Change Management, which involves not only planning but also understanding the people involved in the change process.

How do 7 Roles of Change™ help us understand people in the face of change?

7 Roles of Change™ is a framework that helps us understand the roles of people and stakeholders during periods of change through three key factors: Power, Legitimacy, and Urgency.

When the weight of these three factors differs, seven roles emerge: Sleeping Giant, Dominant, Observer, Dangerous, Catalyst, Seeker, and Demanding , reflecting how each person may play a different role and respond to change differently.

The important thing is that a role is not a personality. A single person can play different roles depending on the story, situation, and time.

Understanding each role allows for the selection of the most appropriate communication method for each individual.

In change management, the key is not to rush into judging who is "ready" or "not ready," but to understand what role each individual is playing in the change that is taking place.

When we have a clearer understanding of the roles of stakeholders, it helps us choose ways to communicate, coordinate, and collaborate that are more appropriate for each role and situation.

Because managing organizational change doesn't depend solely on the plan, but also on how well we understand the people involved in the change process.

Follow 7 Roles of Change™ and get to know all 7 roles to understand the differences among people and learn how to work together in the face of change.
